Make It Rain: Catapult Turret

Dev-Blog #4 New Shelter Defenses

*DISCLAIMER: DoS2 is still in early development. Images and graphics shown might change or may not appear in the final version of the game.*

Make it rain! As part of our ongoing series of turret blogs, we are proud to give you an exclusive look at our catapult turret! Ever wanted to fulfill your medieval fantasies? Then get ready to protect your castle from the oncoming hordes of invaders, because we have a good old-fashioned catapult to scratch that medieval itch.

Small, but packs a punch!
Small, but packs a punch!

When designing traps and turrets, we wanted to make something that would be unique, but still have a classic feel. Since the apocalypse forces all humans to return to their savage roots, we thought it would be clever and downright cool if the traps had an old-school feel. Therefore, we created a catapult.

Strategy is essential in the apocalypse!

With just a flick of the switch, the catapult can reign down massive amounts of damage to an entire horde of zombies. Like the other traps and turrets, you just have to get the horde’s attention, lead them down the path of righteousness, set off the trap, then sit back and enjoy the show!

Just a hair trigger away from destroying waves of zombies.

We wanted you all to have an effective way to wipe out oncoming hordes, but with a little bit of style. Since we already have the modern turret and a flame thrower, we thought a “return-to-the-roots” device would be refreshing and unique. We’re confident you’ll enjoy this classic defensive weapon as much as we enjoyed designing it!

Key Points:

  • Modeled a classic catapult with an apocalypse-like style.

  • Set an expanded/explosive attack range.

  • Added trap triggers that are player and enemy activated.

Thanks for checking out our dev-blogs, but don’t be afraid to share your thoughts and opinions on social media. This will help us understand how to improve the game together. Thanks again, and we’ll see you next time at dawn.
